Setting Up Dates

By Dr. Dennis W. Neder

Question:

Dennis, I got your book last week and have read the whole thing. Your techniques aren't easy, but they are something I can do if I apply myself diligently to your principles. The book is great! I have been talking to 2 girls from my Internet dating site and got phone numbers this past weekend. Now that I have their numbers I was wondering what the best approach would be to call and setting up dates. I work outside the city they live in but have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday here, (and a lot of times Thursday evening). I have not called either of them yet, but was planning to do so sometime in the next 4 days - most likely Sunday - to set up dates for next weekend. I was hoping you could help me out here. How would you go about setting this up?

Thanks for a great book!

Love Letters Writing

Letters of Love
Of all letters, the love-letter should be the most carefully prepared. Among the written missives, they are the most thoroughly read and re-read, the longest preserved, and the most likely to be regretted in after life. .... More in love letters writing

Answer:

Hello! Thanks for your comments on the book! The exercises in the book take some work, but actually, you'd be surprised how easy they really are when you get started. Of course, the challenge is always to get started, so don't delay - it's the rest of your life we're talking about here!

Now, on to your question: When you call, keep it short and to the point. You should just say, "Hello, this is Chris." Then, comment on something you know about her. For example, if she's talked about her mom being sick, just ask how mom is. Try anything that you can remember, but keep it short. Then, get right to the point. Tell her that you'll be in town next weekend and you want to get with her for a drink (or coffee, or whatever). Next, say, "Which night is better for you - Friday or Saturday?" With this approach, you're really not asking her for a date; it's assumed - a very confident approach.

Instead, you're asking her to make a choice of days. When she gives you one, just say, "Ok, what's your address", or agree on some place to meet. Like the book says, BE SPECIFIC about time, place, etc. There should be no question of the expectations. Then, do the same thing with Hottie #2. During the week, if you're on the chat system and see them there, don't make a big deal about the dates. Just talk to them like you normally would. About the last time you're on before you leave for Chicago, just say to them, (use whisper, or the equivalent for your chat software), "I'm looking forward to Friday (or Saturday)". Then, sign off.

Good luck, my brother - go have a GREAT time. Be confident and remember your goals!
